Fool for Christ
Being at TKC, I sometimes feel like a fool. There are many observable criticisms to be had of TKC. At times, there are more reasons to leave than to stay. Yet, I feel led to stay and not move elsewhere even when my carnal eyes see fervent spiritual life elsewhere, like at NEST.
I guess this is what it means that the cross is foolishness to the perishing. Why would a righteous man die for a people that mocked, scorned, rejected, and crucified their Messiah? How does dying on a cross translate to saving the whole world? Why would pain and suffering be necessary to have life eternal? It is foolishness for Jesus to allow himself to bear the weight of sin of a world that hates God.
But 1 Corinthians 1:25 says the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength.
I feel like a fool for staying at TKC, sometimes. Why should I believe in it? It is foolishness to take the run-down shelter instead of the turn-key house. It is foolish to commit to a people that cannot challenge me from the Word instead of a group that excites my pursuit of God.
