Chapters 1-11: The story of man’s fall Four major events: Creation / Fall / Flood / Babel Chapters 12-50: the story of God’s redemption. Four major persons: Abraham / Isaac / Jacob / Joseph (the patriarchs)
Purposes: A. Show the origin of mankind and the origin of mankind’s problem. B. Show that God is the original creator. C. Show God’s original design for humans. D. Show the origin of Israel.
Messages: A. God created a good creation. Everything created was good. Evil is taking something good and then twisting it out of its shape and pattern. B. The original sin was disobedience. Disobedience is the hinge on the door where God is trying to bring us back to obedience. C. Man is separated from God. D. God works with us through covenant. E. God is a good father and works to restore us every step of the way. God, from the beginning and proceeding the fall, loves us.
